About the Role...
Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, your role as a People & Culture Advisor will be varied, encompassing wide ranging responsibilities
for example:-
- Management of key internal client/practice groups taking ownership of the HR function
- Undertake recruitment activities across the full recruitment process with Lawyer/Support staff & Graduate/Clerkship recruitment; eg. screening/interviewing/ assessment process; co-ordination of interviews; liaising with recruitment consultants/candidates; posting job advertisements.
- Advise and deliver HR programs and processes in Melbourne in conjunction with other members of the HR team. This will include performance management, coaching, change management, recruitment, employee relations, OH&S, policies, benefits, reporting and legislative compliance
- Support and contribute to HR programs and new HR initiatives/projects
- Build strong and enduring relationships with staff at all levels within the firm
- Monitor, manage and deliver continual improvement of HR systems, policies and processes
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR strategies
- Ensure all activities undertaken by HR comply with relevant Acts, legal requirements and ethical standards
You will also work closely with the People & Culture Manager and receive lots of hands on guidance and mentoring.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in a HR Advisory capacity OR may even suit an HR Co-ordinator looking to take the next step in their career
- Experience gained in a law firm will be ideal, alternatively those with experience within a leading professional services firm
(eg. accounting, management consulting and/or engineering) are encouraged to apply
- Ideally experience or exposure managing graduate and/or seasonal clerk programs
- Solid generalist HR experience
covering a wide range of HR issues, from both an operational (essential)
and strategic (ideal)
perspective
- Experience working with business owners/executive team
- Project management experience (ideal)
- Excellent communication skills at all levels and a strong client service focus
- Strong 'hands on' HR style
with the ability to motivate and influence others
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
- 'Team player' ethos and have a high levels of discretion, integrity and commitment to the company's standards
- Initiative and a proactive approach
